Beverley is an acclaimed Welsh singer, broadcaster, presenter and community champion whose remarkable career spans opera, theatre, radio, television and international concert stages.
A graduate of Cardiff University, she began her professional career with Welsh National Opera, performing as Rosina in The Barber of Seville. She has since performed at major venues including the Royal Albert Hall, where she sang before Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and has appeared internationally from Vancouver to New York.
Her broadcasting career has been equally distinguished. Beverley has presented extensively for the BBC, including BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio 4, and currently presents her weekly programme, Beverley’s World of Music, on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Sounds.
Beyond music and broadcasting, Beverley has dedicated decades to community cohesion, racial equality, mental health, homelessness, refugee support and preserving the legacy of Paul Robeson. She is a former High Sheriff of Mid Glamorgan, a Deputy Lieutenant, and in 2021 was awarded an MBE for services to Community Cohesion and Broadcasting.
Her commitment to music, equality, Wales and bringing communities together reflects so much of what the Black Welsh Music Awards stands for.
